Greetings from Wolf Trap Opera!
On this beautiful Sunday afternoon following our
season-opening Blier recital at The Barns last night, the company is working at full-tilt here at the Center for Education. Italian coachings, music rehearsals, and opera stagings continue throughout the building while we are working diligently to prepare for the rest of the summer!
I’d like to extend a personal invitation to you, a special friend and follower of the opera company, for this Thursday, June 11th, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Jamie Barton, one of our Filene Young Artists will be working with pianist Jeremy Frank to present the first of two free mini-recitals in the Lecture Hall of the Center for Education. Entitled
“Vocal Colors”, these programs are presented in collaboration with
The Phillips Collection and feature music programmed by the performers who are using visual art as inspiration. This cross-disciplinary performance features the artwork of Monet, Chagall, Cézanne and Lawrence paired with music by DuParc, Ives, Elton John, and Fiona Apple. It promises to be an incredibly satisfying 30-minute mid-day musical siesta for everyone in attendance. We are happy to welcome Chris Celauro, Teacher Program and Online Education Coordinator for The Phillips Collection who will introduce Jamie and Jeremy’s performance and offer a bit of insight from the museum’s perspective.
We are advertising this program through email and our online home – the
Wolf Trap Opera Hotspot, so please feel free to forward this invitation to a friend.
Due to limited seating in the Lecture Hall, reservations are required even though admission is free.
